FAQ The Shirley
All of our rooms have windows that can open fully. Each room has an osculating fan. Alternative lighter cotton sheets can be exchanged for the summer duvet if requested.
Yes our large and spacious family rooms can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2/3 children. All rooms have the space for a travel cot. Additional bedrooms can be booked next to each other subject to availability. Just let us know what you need upon booking, and we will do our best to accommodate based on availability.
The charge for children is included in the family room rate.
We ask guests to pre-order their breakfast by 8pm the evening before, using the slips in the main reception. This ensures you have the exact breakfast you would like, cooked fresh each day.
- The honesty bar and guest lounge is open all day until 11pm.
- Breakfast service is between 8.45am and 9.45am daily.
An earlier breakfast is available upon request and subject to availability.
All of our bedrooms have their own private ensuite with a shower. We do not have baths at The Shirely

We most certainly can! We can store luggage if you arrive early for your room, and we can store it if you want to go and explore Torquay on departure day too.
We’re a dog-loving family so you are more than welcome to bring your four-legged friend along . We charge £25 per night per dog. We allow dogs in all rooms (except our Small Guest Rooms as they just don’t have the tail-wagging space). We don’t allow dogs in the restaurant, but you can dine in The Bar or Marmalade Lounge with your four-legged-friend.
The Shirley is situated close to the marina and centre of town. It’s just under a 10-minute walk to the water and a plethora of places to eat and explore.
We’re just a short taxi ride, or 20-minute walk.
We have a large sun terrace at the front of The Shirley, that keeps the sun all day long. There is a selection of areas to sit in, or sun beds to lounge on.
Unfortunately we do not offer electric charging points at the present time.
